Meet Enrolled Nurse, Ellie
Dedicated nurse, Ellie, prides herself on providing compassionate, person-centred care to the residents at The Bays. Having started working in the community as a personal care worker at 18 years of age, Ellie discovered the difference that she can make in someone’s life through compassion, kindness and quality care and chose to further her career by studying her Diploma of Nursing.
“I hope the impact I have is that residents feel genuinely cared for and know they can rely on me,” she says. “I always try and go above and beyond, whether it’s responding quickly when they need something, taking a bit of extra time to listen, or advocating for their needs.”
What is the favourite part of your day?
Every day is so different, and I think that’s what excites me the most. No two shifts are ever the same! I mostly love connecting with the individual residents and learning about their lives, their families and their achievements. I love making sure each resident feels respected, comfortable and well cared for. It’s incredibly rewarding knowing I can brighten their day, even in small ways.
How does technology help you deliver better care?
CareKeeper holds all the information about each resident’s care needs and it alerts us when something has changed. I like that we can document care in real time, which means information is always up to date and can be shared instantly with the rest of the team. It helps ensure everyone is informed about any changes in a resident’s condition so we can provide timely and consistent care. It also means we spend less time on paperwork and more time with the residents.
At The Bays Aged Care, residents are at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on getting to know and understand individual residents, and supporting them to maintain their interests, routines and connections to the people and places they love. We use innovation to help us deliver personalised, meaningful care.
