Filling our days with sunshine and art
With the weather warming up and the garden ablaze with colour and the scent of stunning roses, residents have been enjoying spending time together in the welcoming outdoor spaces at The Bays Aged Care.
The gardens have become a daily source of joy, wellbeing and connection, with plenty of green thumbs contributing to making these areas even more beautiful.
One of the most loved features is the walking track that has thoughtfully placed bench seats along the way and a gazebo at the far end, providing inviting places for residents to sit in the fresh air and listen to the birds.
Over time, residents have added creative elements like bird feeders, garden ornaments and painted rocks, so there are lovely little surprises to find at every turn. A particularly special contribution comes from resident, Lu, who has donated a treasured collection of large mosaic tiles that she created over many years. Lu and her husband, Michael, walk the track together regularly, stopping to admire the artworks and reminisce.
Inspired by the sunshine, our very own Garden Group is buzzing with ideas for refreshing the Rose House courtyard. At the top of the list is adding to our garden of home-grown herbs and perhaps starting a new veggie patch. Many residents previously lived on local farms and are always keen to stay active and involved by getting their hands dirty in the garden beds.
At The Bays Aged Care, our outdoor spaces are a source of pride for our community. They’re a place to express ourselves, and reconnect with nature and each other.
